Lahaska is a Community in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Lahaska is an unincorporated community in central Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. It lies just east of Buckingham and west of New Hope on Route 202 and Route 263. While most of it is in Buckingham Township, it also extends into Solebury Township. While the village has its own box Post Office with the zip code of 18931, surrounding areas use the Doylestown zip code of 18902 or the New Hope zip code of 18938. Lahaska is home to one of the most popular shopping areas in the region, Peddler's Village, as well as Buckingham Friends School, a private Quaker school for grades K-8. Lahaska as a name has its origin in that of an Indian town on the banks of the creek (Lahaska), which the Lenapes called Lahaskeke or Lehaskeking, from the stem lehasik, to write or written, and eke, much, hence the meaning "the place of much writing," probably from the fact that some parley or treaty, or some important Indian picture writing, was made there. The Indian name has been spelled by writers several ways, as Lahaskeek, Lahasaka, Lahaseka, Lahaska, Lasskeek, Layoskeek, Laoskeykee, Laskeek, Lahoskeek. Besides raising miraculous cereal crops, the beautiful valley was productive of poets, who have taken plenty of poetic license with the spelling.
